Taking lessons is a great and rewarding experience that requires dedication and a teacher who can inspire students while training them to move to the next level.
I have been passionate about teaching since I was young. In fact, it was the first career I dreamed of having. My teaching style blends support and patience while producing excellence and progress. I help my students to love music while they reap the life long benefits of developing valuable skills such as commitment, consistency, efficiency, work ethic, and time management.
Classically trained with degrees from top music schools, I specialize in teaching violin and viola to all ages and levels. I also offer beginner lessons in piano, cello, and guitar.
Though classical is predominantly my background, I have extensive experience in other styles including fiddle, improvisation, contemporary and more. I have played in symphony orchestras and chamber music ensembles, as well as a variety of different types of bands including church worship teams. My versatility allows me to start and nurture beginners or refine experienced players to reach their full potential.
Because I am a member of the American String Teachers Association, my students enjoy many performance opportunities throughout the year, in addition to our holiday and spring studio recitals. These events allow my students to work toward a goal, get critiqued, and just show off their skills.
Are you a beginner or a parent looking to begin lessons for your child?
I really enjoy starting students. I am patient while my students learn to play and read music; as a result, my students tend to do extremely well as sight readers and many become section leaders in their orchestras. In addition, I use technology and a variety of strategies to teach and inspire my students to understand a skill or concept.
